Russell Crowe looks unrecognisable as psychotic stalker in new horror Unhinged

HOLLYWOOD actor Russell Crowe has been snapped on the set of his latest movie – and he is barely recognisable.

Russell, 55, looks as though he has undergone a full body transformation for his new flick Unhinged, which is described as a 'road-rage thriller'.

But it is believed his new timber is actually a fat suit, rather than the result of too many pizzas and pies, as he was spotted only last month looking considerably thinner.

Russell was snapped in his new character's stained pale blue shirt while taking a cigarette break on the set of Unhinged.

The marks on his shirt appear to be fake blood and it has been tucked tightly into Russell's beige trousers.

Standing to the side as he chatted to a female member of crew, the New Zealand-born actor's newly acquired paunch could be seen in all its glory.

Russell's naturally greying beard has been dyed brown for the role too, and his hair has been left to grow a little longer than his usual style.

It's fair to say Russell's appearance for Unhinged is a far cry from how he looked in the blockbuster film Gladiator, which was released in 2000.

For that flick, Russell had to endure four-hour daily workouts for four months for his part as muscular Maximus Decimus Meridius.

But in Unhinged, which is being filmed in New Orleans, he plays a very different character.

Russell takes on the role of a road-rage motorist, who seeks out a terrifying revenge on a mother who leaned on her horn at the wrong time.

And not only does he go after her, he goes after everyone close to her too.

The movie is set to be released at towards the end of 2020.
