Riverdale season 4: Jughead’s fate ‘sealed’ by Brett in chilling tape clue

Riverdale returned with another chapter of the haunting teen drama titled Dog Day Afternoon. Fans caught up with Jughead Jones (played by Cole Sprouse) and Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) who had each respectively had their own enemies to battle. However, it seems things are set to go south for Jughead quicker than fans anticipated after mysterious VHS tape arrived on his doorstep.

The episode saw Jughead gain two new roommates arriving at Stonewall Prep. Moose Mason (Cody Kearsley) and Brett Weston Wallace (Sean Depner).

Brett was quickly revealed to be Jughead’s new nemesis and the episode contains a series of hints that Brett could play a huge role in Jughead’s disappearance set to take place in upcoming episodes.

For a start he is obsessed with family history, which could link to the revelation that Jughead’s grandfather Forsythe Pendleton Jones I (Timothy Webber) attended the school for a couple of months.

Moreover Jughead’s grandfather is set to make his debut in the mid-season finale.

With Brett having already gone after Moose in retaliation of his feud with Jughead, he is sure to want Jughead gone from the prestigious school.

However, could he have something to do with the tapes?

The latest instalment saw Betty and Jughead relaxing at home as she spoke about the action-packed showdown at the farm that saw Alice Cooper (Mädchen Amick) gun down the evil Evernever (Chad Michael Murray).

Just after Betty notes she’s glad the “nightmare is finally over”, they open the door, to find a white bag containing an unmarked VHS tape.

“Famous last words,” Jughead quips, all before the show cut to the credits leaving a crushing cliffhanger.

Could this be part of Brett’s revenge?

The show is no stranger to creepy cults with a thirst for blood and it seems Stonewall Prep is no exception.

According to the Network’s official description of Jughead’s Grandfather Forsythe, he is set to meet with Jughead to discuss his “long-ago involvement” with Baxter Brothers franchise.
