Chrome users have just been treated to a big upgrade with Google releasing its Chrome 78 update.
This new version of the software is being rolled out across the globe and includes some very big changes including a new darker look.
This new design, called Force Dark Mode, will allow users to change the appearance of every website they visit – even if that web page has never been optimised to get this black theme.
Along with that new colour coming to your favourite sites there’s also a vital security upgrade which should help to keep you much safer online.
That’s because Google’s Password Checkup extension will soon be fully integrated into this version of Chrome.
Password Checkup works by instantly detecting and alerting people if a password they are using has been compromised by many of the recent data hacks.
A warning is then displayed meaning you can make sure you update and change things they may have gotten in the hands of the wrong people
That’s a pretty useful feature and one many Chrome fans are sure to welcome.
One final bonus of this update is a massive improvement to your tabs.
In Chrome 78 there’s now something called “Tab Hover Cards” which is aimed at people who end having larger numbers of web pages open at once.
This feature should help you locate the tab you want more quickly with an image of the website appearing when you hold your cursor over a tab.
As well as all these shiny visual treats, there will be a bunch of security upgrades that will continue to help keep your PC safe online.
If you use Chrome is definitely worth updating and 78 is available across numerous platforms including Mac, Windows and iOS.
To check if your Chrome is up to date simply head to the Chrome option in your browser and select “About Chrome”
Here you should be able to see if your software has updated to latest version which is now Chrome 78.
The Chrome team is delighted to announce the promotion of Chrome 78 to the stable channel for Windows, Mac and Linux. This will roll out over the coming days/weeks.
