'RHOD': Will Season 5 Lack Drama Without LeAnne Locken?

2020 was the year of the exit for the women in the Real Housewives franchise. In total, 11 women left the franchise and most of the Housewives’ cities were affected. For The Real Housewives of Dallas, LeAnne Locken was the one to bid the franchise adieu, but it turns out her costars aren’t all that upset about it.

LeAnne Locken’s exit

The Real Housewives of Dallas is still relatively new compared to other shows in the franchise. Locken was one of the original Dallas housewives when the show premiered in 2016. But after a “very personally challenging” fourth season, she decided to announce her departure to Entertainment Tonight in a statement.

“The last four years have been a trolley-slapping good time but after much consideration, I have made the personal decision to step away from RHOD,” she said.

“Getting to share my wedding with the viewers last year brought me tremendous joy, however, the season was very personally challenging for me,” she continued. “I am looking forward to stepping away from the cameras and spending quality time with my husband and friends, traveling, but most importantly, getting back to philanthropy, which was my main reason for joining the show.”

What will this season be like without LeAnne?

Season 5 of RHOD has already been filmed and things are obviously a lot different without Locken around.

“This year, it was a lot lighter, so I will say it was a lighter season. I think the two new girls are really great,” Stephanie Hollman told HollywoodLife. “They’re fantastic additions and I honestly really think that everyone is going to love this season. I know people were a little nervous, us going in without her, but I think it’s going to be a really fantastic year.”

Despite being a former castmate of Locken’s, Hollman doesn’t speak to her.

I have not heard from her in a while,” she said. “I think Kameron maybe talks to her, but I have not really seen her but I don’t know if anyone’s really seeing much of anybody really, but I hope she’s doing well. I don’t wish her any ill will.”

What will season 5 focus on?

Since this season was filmed during the coronavirus (COVID-19) quarantine, we will see a lot more of the housewives’ interactions with their families. Hollman’s marriage and marital issues will also be front and center.

We definitely bicker back and forth in real life,” Hollman said of her husband. “He will say something, I will snap back. Bickering is probably part of our love language which isn’t maybe the most amazing thing, but this year, I really wanted to go back to my roots on something I love, which is social work and social service, so I wanted to start my own foundation and I kind of did that through the use of our company and things that we had which went into Travis’ territory which he was not always supportive of because it would put a lot of work on his shoulders so there was definitely some tension.”

But despite the lack of travel and coronavirus limitations of the season, there will still be plenty of drama.

“There’s a ton of drama!” she said. “It goes from one drama — If you love drama, you’re going to be super happy because there’s a lot, yes.”
