Piers Morgan slams Good Morning Britain guest who wants to ban guide dogs for the blind

Piers Morgan lashed out at a guest on Good Morning Britain today (November 13) after she argued that dogs should give their “consent” before becoming guide dogs.

Wendy Turner Webster was on the show to say that she was “uncomfortable with the idea that we use animals”, saying she took issue with the “welfare” of guide dogs.

However, Piers decided to go in when questioning Wendy about “consent” with her own dog, asking: “Have you trained your dog?”

When she revealed that she did “for her safety”, the presenter asked: “But did you get your dog’s consent to sit? To obey your human orders?

“Do you ride horses? Have you ever ridden horses? Did you get your horse’s consent to rise in the forest.? You charged along on top of it without its consent?”

After saying she was a “responsible rider”, Piers added: “Because you’re responsible, it’s fine to not get consent?”

Wendy accused Piers of “mixing up the issue”, Piers going in again: “You, Wendy, know better about the animal.

“Because you’re a saintly figure, when it comes to your animal ownership, we should all relax?”

As the argument cooled down, other guest Nigel Reed took the opposing side of the argument and said that Wendy’s argument that technology could replace guide dogs wasn’t an alternative because the tech wasn’t there and there was a cost issue.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am.
