Piers Morgan left viewers scratching their heads when he appeared on his ailing TalkTV show clutching a confused piglet.
The former Good Morning Britain host was attempting to make a joke about Boris Johnson, who is expected to resign ‘imminently’ after dozens of Tory MPs quit following scandal after scandal.
Labelling the unpopular outgoing prime minister as a ‘greased piglet of politics’, it seems the brown furry swine resting in Piers’ arms is supposed to represent or be a metaphor for Mr Johnson and his chaotic government.
Piers went on to say on Wednesday night: ‘Tonight, Boris Johnson must go.
‘The greased piglet of politics has slipped and squirmed through almost three disastrous years of disorder and deceit. 38 resignations in two days have butchered his government and tonight, surely, nothing can now save his bacon?’
The piglet remained almost motionless cradled in the 57-year-old’s arms while he laid into hapless Mr Johnson, with the camera zooming into the animal’s blinking face.
The swine caused quite a stir on Twitter, with viewers saying they were baffled it made an appearance on the show.
‘Piers, serious question. Are you ok?’ asked one concered audience member, while taking a dig at the presenter’s crumbling ratings, another teased: ‘This must’ve been incredibly painful for both of your viewers to watch live’
Someone else took a swipe and tweeted: ‘Producer desperation to save TalkTV’
It is not the first time Piers has blasted Mr Johnson live on air this week, calling him ‘shameful’ on Tuesday night.
Piers said: ‘This is actually something that shames our country. The British Prime Minister has to resign because his own party turned on him because he kept telling whoppers.
‘He kept breaking his own rules. That’s not good. We should demand better from our leaders.’
Mr Johnson was hit by even more revelations this morning, including that he had a past meeting with a former Soviet Union spy and his son.
Downing Street has confirmed Mr Johnson will make a statement to the nation today and it is understand his team is writing his resignation letter.
Piers Morgan Uncensored airs weekdays from 8pm on TalkTV.
