Our Yorkshire Farm is the down-to-earth docu-series that Channel 5 viewers have grown to love. Fans have been able to watch how The Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen, husband Clive and their nine children balance family life with taking care of land and livestock. Amanda revealed earlier this year though that there was a big change ahead for all of them.

Who will run Ravenseat Farm after Amanda Owen and her family leave?

Amanda and Clive Owen met at Ravenseat Farm in 1996 and have lived at the property ever since.

They have both worked and lived on the land but Amanda admits wanting to put down more permanent roots for herself and their family.

The Owen family are tenants, renting their cosy cottage from billionaire and Ravenseat Robert Miller, the co-founder of DFS (Duty Free Shops).

But the couple made the announcement in early 2021 that they had purchased another property elsewhere.

Amanda and the family will be moving to Anty Johns in Upper Swaledale, a derelict farmhouse that is situated just a mile away from their current home.

The Owens are staying at Ravenseat until they have renovated the building.

Explaining why they wanted to make the move, Amanda said: “When the opportunity came up [to buy somewhere else] and I saw that ‘for sale’ sign go up, it was like a no brainer.

“The opportunity to get that doesn’t come up that often.

“I needed to buy it because it’s security, for us and for the children.”

Amanda admitted feeling “very temporary” at Ravenseat due to its extensive history and was eager to start their own unique story.

But who is going to take care of Ravenseat Farm after Amanda, Clive and their nine children leave?

As of yet, there has been no confirmation that the Owens won’t still be taking care of the farm.

They will only be living one mile away so it would still be possible for them to commute back and forth.

But as they will be taking care of their own new farm at Anty John, this may not be a possibility.

Owner Miller may also prefer to have people who live on the farm look after the land and livestock.

So the 88-year-old businessman could be looking to hire new tenants to live at Ravenseat in the near future.

For now though, Amanda is staying firmly put at her home of more than 25 years.

Plenty of work still needs to be carried out at Anty John before the family can move in permanently.

Our Yorkshire Farm has been following their progress with the renovations, showing how the building had no water or electricity.

With the basic repairs still an issue, it could be quite some time before the Owens make the big move.

Our Yorkshire Farm is available to watch on My5.
