Married At First Sight UK has been the talk of the nation for the past month, with thousands of viewers tuning in each evening to see if the couples could navigate their way through the challenges of love. On Thursday night, the Channel 4 reality show was supposed to air on E4 but it didn’t due to a number of technical difficulties. Express.co.uk has all the latest information on when fans can expect the final episode to play out.

When will the Married At First Sight UK finale air?

Since Saturday night, Channel 4 has been plagued with technical difficulties following an unplanned evacuation of the broadcast tower over the weekend.

On Monday night, fans wanting to watch the latest episodes on the streaming platform All 4 couldn’t access the content.

By Thursday night, the main channel had been affected, meaning a repeat of Wednesday evening’s instalment was broadcast instead.

With so many viewers anxiously waiting to discover the results of the social experiment, the broadcaster does have a duty to air the finale.

Unfortunately, the broadcaster has given no update on a day when they will be able to put the finale into their schedule.

Fans were informed of the disruption from a statement on the official E4 Twitter page, which read: “We’re aware it’s yesterday’s episode of #MAFSUK playing out this evening and apologise.

“It’s all down to our ongoing tech issues which we’re working hard on. We’ll update here as soon as we know more and when you’ll be able to see the final episode of MAFS UK.”

Just an hour later, they provided an update, stating: “To confirm, #MAFSUK and Afters won’t be playing tonight.

“We’re sorry again – we’re working to make it available on All 4 and E4 as soon as possible and we’ll update as soon as we know more.”

Express.co.uk has contacted a representative of the show for an update.

We’re sorry again

Channel 4

The spin-off show, Married At First Sight Afters hosted by Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Odudu, also didn’t air.

Taking to Twitter, the presenter told her 33,400 followers there would be no spoilers from the finale as the programme had been pushed back as well.

She clarified there had been a “massive technical glitch” and the finale of her show would be broadcast in due course.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the missing episode will be able to disrupt the Friday night schedule for E4.

Friday nights are usually pinned as the channel’s Blockbuster Movie night and this week the slot is being taken by The Inbetweeners Movie.

Due to the explicit content seen in Married At First Sight UK with regards to the language used, the show is unable to air post-watershed.

It is possible the finale could be slotted into the network’s Sunday night programming or even early next week.

Fans might be pleased to know this season is being drawn out a little longer as the finale was going to bring a close to the current series, with another one not expected to air until next Autumn.

The drama which goes down in the finale won’t be scripted, however, with all content airing being the contestants’ true reactions.

In an interview with This Morning in 2015, former star of the show Emma Rathbone explained the contestants aren’t fed what to act out.

She explained she thought this was a social experiment happening way from the small screen as she said: “I didn’t know it would be televised.

“Ideally, I would’ve liked this without the TV. I would’ve liked to have been matched. We’ve been doing this for 18 months.”

Married At First Sight is available to stream on All 4.
