Lucifer season 5 spoilers: Will God appear in the last series?

Season five of Lucifer will be the last outing for the Tom Ellis drama, Netflix has confirmed. The final series of Lucifer will wrap up the story after the shocking season four finale. But could we see Lucifer Morningstar’s (played by Tom Ellis) father God (Neil Gaiman) appearing in the last episodes?

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Lucifer season 4

Lucifer fans will remember God narrating one episode of the show called Once Upon A Time, which imagined a world where his fallen son hadn’t met homicide detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German).

But could we see Gaiman actually turning up in season five? His inclusion in the last series would be apt considering he helped to conceive the character in the comic books.

Lucifer was created by Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg as a character in the DC Comics series The Sandman.

WILL THERE BE ANOTHER SERIES OF LUCIFER?

The character eventually got his own spin-off comic series with the TV show following after that.

Although this is simply speculation at this stage and it’s too early to say, God’s appearance would round off the show nicely as it comes to a close.

Whether Gaiman would be able to squeeze Lucifer into his jam-packed schedule is another matter with the author busy with a raft of other projects.

Most recently, Gaiman was working on the TV adaptation of Good Omens, his collaborative book with Terry Pratchett.

He is also likely to be starting work on American Gods season three on Amazon Prime which is potentially going to be released in 2020.

Previously speaking about asking Gaiman to appear in Lucifer, co-showrunner Joe Henderson said: “I was like, ‘Listen, you are literally Lucifer’s creator.

“I can’t think of a better way to bring our story full circle within that episode, and also within what we’ve been creating.’

“Whenever you get to the question of who God is, going meta [is a good idea].

“I love that issue where it was like, ‘Of course it’s Kirby. Of course.’

“But what a cool way to honor [sic] the people who have created something, but also to give the audience a nice little nudge,” he added to Comicbook.

Henderson said that Gaiman wanted to fit it in amid all his other projects and made time to do the voiceover.

LUCIFER SEASON 4 ENDING EXPLAINED

So, perhaps Gaiman could lend his voice to the show again even if he can’t be in it physically.

However, the writers are in the first stages of penning the scripts for season five and the show could go in any direction.

The biggest plot point to resolve first though is bringing Lucifer back from Hell which could see some form of divine intervention but we’ll have to wait and see.
