Lily Allen reveals she was almost sectioned following a row with ex-husband Sam Cooper when she thought he’d started seeing someone new

The 33-year-old singer has described how she was pinned down on the floor after throwing a water cooler out of a window.

Lily told Cosmopolitan magazine how her new boyfriend MC Meridian Dan had to plead with medics not to sedate her and have her sectioned.

In the interview Lily revealed how during her mental health battle six nurses tackled her to the floor.

She said: "It was a build-up of everything and that [Sam’s new relationship] was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

"[The staff] had me pinned down on the floor.

"Once the needle goes in, you’re sectioned. [Dan] had to really fight with them not to do it."

The Not Fair singer has recently released her autobiography My Thoughts Exactly, which is full of explosive stories, including have a fling with Liam Gallagher on a flight in 2009.

She also revealed that she paid for sex with women during the breakdown of her marriage to Sam because she wanted “sexual gratification” in her new book – but has now said it didn't feel like she was being unfaithful.

Speaking on the Jonathan Ross Show, she said: “I was in hotel rooms and was feeling quite lonely and had been drinking a lot.

“Usually drugs and alcohol seem to sustain something in me and it didn't feel like anything was working any more.

“I'd just been reading a book about addiction and shame and it introduced me to the idea of sex addiction, so I thought, ‘Why not give this a go?’

"It was a low point and this part of the book I'm really not glamorising it in any way, shape or form… It is sad. It is really sad.”

Lily and Sam, who have two daughters together,  married in 2011 but confirmed their split in 2016 following more than a year of speculation.

In June this year, she officially announced the pair had divorced.

The book hasn’t gone down too well with her dad, who sent her a series of furious texts over revelations about him in it.
