John Bishop slammed for ‘awful’ jokes after cheeky Carol Vorderman love life gag

TV viewers have accused John Bishop of telling “awful” jokes after an instalment of his show that included a cheeky pop at Carol Vorderman.

The comedian started off his ITV programme with a light-hearted take on some of the week’s news, and had a joke about reports that Carol had said she had five “special friends”.

“Five lovers at the same time… ongoing relationships and I tell you what, Carol, that is some Countdown,” he apparently teased.

He also welcomed guests including Judi Love and Gabby Logan to the programme.

However, the show didn’t go down all that well with some viewers, with one even suggesting it should be “binned”.

One viewer tweeted: “Getting paid to read (badly) terrible jokes off a tele prompter. I’m off to pastures new. What happened to good Saturday night comedy? The jokes are so awful.”

“This show is definitely helping Netflix ratings,” remarked somebody else.

One viewer said: “Well that’s gotta get binned pretty sharpish. Utterly dreadful telly……honest answer. I have seen a tree with more movement!”

“This show is just awful, he’s just not any good at interviewing!!” claimed another person, saying it was “painful just painful”.

Another viewer said that they were generally a fan of the TV star but thought the show “wasn’t great”.

One sniped that it was “as funny as a gas bill”.

However, there were other fans who thought John’s programme and comedy hit exactly the right note.

One person tweeted that it was the “best show on ITV on a Saturday night”, adding: “Keep up the fantastic work John.”

Another posted: “I do love a bit of John Bishop.”
