Ian Wright to host new ITV game show Moneyball

Football legend Ian Wright is set to return to primetime TV after securing himself a new presenting job.

Wrighty, 57, will host new ITV series Moneyball which will see contestants pocket money for every correct answer they make.

Hopefuls are able to make an early exit from the game with their cash – but only if they take a "final shot" which would force them back into the game.

Ian said: "Look who’s got a brand new game show.

"From the moment ITV got in touch with the idea, I was hooked and there was no way I could’ve said no to Moneyball.

"It’s exhilarating, fun, dramatic, everything you want from a game show."

He added: "Even though I know I’ll want everyone to win the money and even though I know I’ll be in bits when they lose, I can't wait for everyone at home to experience the real drama of Moneyball."

The show is expected to enter into production in the coming months.

Katie Rawcliffe, Head of ITV Entertainment Commissioning said: “We are delighted to have Ian at the helm of this exciting, new format that suits him perfectly.

"A heart-stopping game show that is full of humour, drama and life-changing moments.”

Teasing the show further, Michael Kelpie, Managing Director of Potato, who are co-producing the show, added: "Moneyball is a great game that combines general knowledge and split-second timing for the chance to win life-changing amounts of cash."

The show is billed as being "smart, fun and thrillingly unpredictable".

Iain is currently one of the most recognisable and best-loved sports pundits on both BBC Sport and ITV Sport.

In 2019 he jetted Down Under to enter the I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle.

He became the fifth celeb to get voted out of the TV camp after going up against US reality TV legend Caitlyn Jenner.
