The pair are just one of a number of new faces in the latest series tasked with injected fresh personality into the popular Channel 4 reality show.
However, the bickering pair failed to impress and even left their sofa at one point to have a lengthy argument over the washing up in the kitchen.
Out of shot, John fumed: "Beryl, this is absolutely hopeless you've put all things in the wrong way again.
"All these plates you've got in the wrong place."
Beryl hit back: "You're just crazy."
But John wasn't finished, continuing: "I'm not having you taking over the washing up machine because it's just hopeless.
"I think you should leave it to me. It's beyond your capabilities."
It looks like the pairing need a bit more time to establish themselves, with viewers writing on Twitter: "#Gogglebox Really not feeling John and Beryl….
"I really cannot warm to John and Beryl… Beryl is definitely a fake posho! Her accent is so put on! #Gogglebox.
"Think they could lose John and Beryl and the two girls from Durham. #gogglebox.
"Still haven't warmed to John and Beryl #Gogglebox.
"I don’t like John and Beryl. They’re not a good fit #gogglebox."
Some viewers thought the pair had been brought in to be the "new Leon and June", after Leon's death prompted June to step away from the show for good.
Leon developed pneumonia and sepsis from a short illness just before Christmas, and passed away after ten days in hospital.
The couple were the first pair to be cast on the hit show back in 2013, and soon became some of the most popular faces among fans.
June decided to write a book, titled Leon and June: Our Story, in order to celebrate their life together – from when they first met at teacher training college in 1955, to finding fame later in life.
