Game of Thrones season 8 is "big" for Arya, with Maisie Williams teasing "beautiful" final scene

We already know that Game of Thrones‘ final season has a “beautiful” ending in store for Tyrion Lannister, but it’s also set to go that way for Arya Stark.

Revealing Arya’s “big” storyline in the show’s final run, Maisie Williams told The Guardian that she had “exhausted” her character by the time she officially left Arya behind.

Keeping things relatively cryptic, Maisie revealed she “didn’t want more” from Arya’s arc when she filmed her final scenes. “I had exhausted every possible piece of Arya. And this season was quite big for me. I had a lot more to do,” she explained.

“Mainly because there’s just less characters now, so everyone’s got more to do.”

Opening up about her final day on the set of Thrones, Maisie called the fan-favourite character’s ending ” beautiful”. “I ended on the perfect scene,” she added.

“I was alone – shocker! Arya’s always bloody alone. But I was alone and I had watched a lot of other people wrap. I knew the drill, I had seen the tears and heard the speeches.”

While Maisie Williams is clearly an expert on revealing Game of Thrones‘ future with care, there is actually a part of her that wishes she wasn’t.

Earlier this month, Maisie joked that she would “love to just turn around to a fanatical fan one day and ruin the ending of the show [and] watch their face, like, [drop].

“That would be fun!”

Game of Thrones season 8 will premiere in 2019. The show airs on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK. Season 7 is now available to buy on DVD, Blu-ray or digital download.
