Game of Thrones has already revealed which characters will die in the Battle of Winterfell, claims new fan theory

GAME OF Thrones has already revealed which characters will die in the upcoming Battle of Winterfell, a new fan theory has claimed.

Attentive viewers believe that a tell-tale segment in yesterday's instalment of the fantasy series has highlighted who is at risk – with Arya Stark one of the shock favourites to be killed off.

Thrones is famed for its clever use of foreshadowing, with seemingly unimportant scenes later being revealed as huge warning signs, and fans now reckon that they are ahead of the game and figured out its latest massive hint.

One of the most seemingly random moments from episode two was when Podrick started to sing, giving a melancholy performance of Jenny's Song, which details a woman who has lost everybody that she loves and is surrounded by ghosts.

The meaning behind the sombre lyrics of the song has already been closely analysed by fans, but now Yahoo Movies have suggested that we should actually be paying more attention to the montage of characters that were shown while Pod was singing.

A mish-mash of both minor and major characters preparing themselves for the impending battle focused on Gilly, Samwell Tarly, and baby Sam, Theon and Sansa, Gendry and Arya, Grey Worm and Missandei, and Jorah on his own.

The theory claims that one character from each snippet will lose their life in next week's epic battle, which will see the living take on the Night King and his evil army of the dead.

Adding weight to the suggestion, it appears that each of those clips features a character that has completed their Game of Thrones journey in some way and has nothing left to offer the fast-ending story.

For example, Gilly has barely been seen after she accidentally found out about Jon's legitimate parentage at the citadel, but was briefly featured urging a little girl to join her and the other vulnerable citizens in the crypts during the battle instead of going off to fight.

It is thought that Gilly's suggestion will actually have dire consequences for the girl, with fans previously pointing out that the crypts are hardly the safest place to be in a battle against the dead.

Meanwhile, Theon has finally found forgiveness from both his sister, Yara, and Sansa – swearing to protect Bran against the Night King in their attempt to lure the creature to his death.

Having previously lied about murdering Bran and his late brother, Rickon, Theon dying while saving the Three Eyed Raven will have a certain irony that we have come to expect from the show.

Elsewhere, Grey Worm and Missandei had just discussed their plans for life after the battle is won – and as heartbreaking as it will be for fans, the theory suggests that Missandei no longer has a role to play in the remaining narrative.

Her death would also have a huge impact on Daenerys, who has already been seen to be spiralling.

This week's episode also saw Jorah Mormont have a huge moment of redemption when Sam gifted him his family's Valyrian steel sword.

Jorah lost his own family sword after bringing shame on himself, so receiving another would bring his story full circle.

Finally, and perhaps the most shocking part of the theory, Arya was shown in bed with Gendry having just lost her virginity to him.

Although Gendry is arguably a minor character in terms of how much screen time he has had, he is also Robert Baratheon's son and has a claim to the Iron Throne.

His story hasn't fully been explored yet, whereas Arya has reunited with her family, forgiven enemies The Hound and Beric, and even found love.

Her time appears to be up, and with a teaser trailer previously showing Arya running through the crypts there is even a belief that she could die at the hands of dead Starks who the Night King has risen.

A poignant addition to the theory is Daenerys' insistence that her hand, Tyrion, should stay with the women and children rather than go and fight.

Insisting that she needs to preserve his safety as she is dependent on his smart brain and quick thinking, Daenerys placing Tyrion in the crypts might actually be instrumental in saving a whole load of characters who would have otherwise perished when the crypts come under attack.

Tyrion has proven himself in the past for his cleverness, bravery, and even his fighting skills and if anybody is likely to implement an escape plan to save the civilians it is likely to be him.

It was previously revealed that next week's episode of Game of Thrones will be the show's longest ever instalment at 82 minutes – and with that many potential deaths to get through, that isn't very surprising.
