Emmerdale stars to take centre stage in real-life documentary Emmerdale 1918 – and it starts tonight

Emmerdale fans will be treated to a triple-whammy from the soap’s stars tonight (September 20), as a new series called Emmerdale 1918 kicks off.

Emmerdale 1918 will air after Thursday night’s double bill of Emmerdale to mark 100 years since the end of the First World War.

The show will uncover the incredible untold stories of real Yorkshire men and women from the unique perspective of the cast of the ITV soap.

A host of Emmerdale’s most famous faces – both old and new – will be leaving the present day and stepping back into the past to celebrate the lives of unsung local heroes who drove the war effort.

Inspired by the stories of gallantry, sacrifice and heartbreak from villages in rural Yorkshire, the cast will honour these hidden heroes by coming to together to host their very own Emmerdale Armistice celebration.

Tonight’s debut episode will see Mark Charnock, who plays Marlon Dingle, look back on the story of a real First World War chef who lived in the original Emmerdale village.

Mark will find himself behind the lines, preparing meals for hungry troops, whilst uncovering the twists and turns of a cheeky chef who left behind a remarkable legacy.

Given his inexperience of cooking, Mark starts to feel the heat as he prepares a special pudding for the finale event in First World War cooking conditions. Can he keep it together and honour this Yorkshire hero?

Emmerdale 1918 kicks off tonight at 8.30pm on ITV.
