Emmerdale fans in tears as Chas Dingle breaks down in tears as she buries baby Grace in heartbreaking scenes

The character, played by Lucy Pargeter, struggled during the church service as she bid goodbye to her little one alongside husband Paddy.

In devastating scenes Chas interrupted the service and questioned some of Paddy's choices.

As she watched her daughter get buried she wept: "This is your new home.

"I feel like part of me is being buried with you today.  I really hope you are somewhere else, somewhere bright and colourful, please rest in peace."

Those watching at home found it very upsetting and took to Twitter to comment on it.

One person wrote: "I’m in tears. My heart is breaking. #Emmerdale"

A second remarked: “So beautiful and so moving sat here in floods of tears #emmerdale.”

While a third shared an emoji of a broken heart and remarked: “The tears are starting to flow  #emmerdale.”

During tonight's episode Chas, played by Lucy Pargeter, was extremely emotionally and found herself going through her daughter’s memory box.

Meanwhile Cain, Jeff Hordley, arrived and was concerned when he found his sister choked up and gave her a cuddle to comfort her.

Chas told him that Paddy had organised everything for the funeral and Cain was worried that Chas had lost faith in the send off for Grace.

Before long Paddy, Dominic Brunt, arrived and told Chas that Grace had arrived and the grieving couple prepared to say goodbye to their baby.

They were amazed when they saw the villagers lining the street to support them on this difficult day.

Chas, Paddy and the rest of their family then made the long and painful walk into church.

Grace had a condition called bilateral renal agenesis meaning her kidneys didn’t develop properly while she was in the womb.

Chas and Paddy made the brave decision to continue with the pregnancy and let Grace’s organs be donated.

But when the moment to give her away came, viewers were left in tears as they saw the tot being taken off to be an organ donor leaving her parents devastated.

They had been enjoying the last few minutes with their baby when a nurse came into the room to take her away.

They had originally found out baby Grace had little chance of survival when Chas went for her 20-week scan and was told her daughter was suffering from the condition bilateral renal agenesis – meaning the baby has no kidneys and underdeveloped lungs.

While she was originally offered the chance to terminate the pregnancy, Chas decided to take the pregnancy to full-term, giving birth to baby Grace with vet boyfriend Paddy by her side.
