Doctor Who unveils new title sequence and TARDIS

Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor Who debut may have gone down exceptionally well with audiences, but there were a couple of things we didn’t get to see – a new title sequence and TARDIS interior.

It is, of course, customary for each new Doctor to get their own theme and time machine makeover.

Well, the show kept us waiting no longer, as both were delivered in tonight’s energetic episode (October 14) ‘The Ghost Monument’.

The new title sequence has somewhat of a retro feel about with its tinny instrumentals, while the wormhole visuals have a sort of nebula vibe about them.

They seemed to go down rather well with the viewers, with one person stating: “The New Doctor Who Title Sequence and that music… I’ve fallen in love with Doctor Who more than ever.”

As for the TARDIS interior, it’s had quite a refurb – which had everyone talking, sending it to the top of Twitter’s trending list.

Whittaker’s Doctor will now inhabit what could be described as a slightly rustic design, with big rusty wheels hanging from the ceiling and these giant crystal pillar things that arch over the control panel.

Viewers seemed to be mixed on the new design, but they were definitely all in awe of one of its new features – a custard cream dispenser.

One viewer tweeted: “I don’t like the new tardis, YET! I’m sure I’ll realise, but I’m stubborn.”

While another wrote: “I am LIVING for the TARDIS‘s new custard cream dispenser.”

And Doctor Who’s official Youtube account released a behind-the-scenes look of the new TARDIS too:

Doctor Who returns with episode three ‘Rosa’ on Sunday, October 21 on BBC One.
