Danniella Westbrook takes aim at EastEnders and claims it could be AXED after schedule shake-up

DANNIELLA Westbrook has taken aim at EastEnders – suggesting that it could be AXED after a soap schedule shake-up.

The actress took to Twitter to slam the long-running BBC One show as she claimed that ratings could "drop through the floor".

Danniella, 48 – who made her debut as Sam in 1990 and last appeared in the role in 2016 – was left shocked earlier this year after her iconic role was recast with a different actress.

Since then, the former soap star has been throwing shade in the direction in the programme, and has taken to Twitter with more.

The mum-of-was referencing the soap schedule shake up, which could see ITV's Emmerdale move to a later airing time.

When the move goes ahead – as part of Emmerdale's 50th year – the show will air at 7:30pm on weekdays, just half an hour before EastEnders.

"Can you imagine when they move Emmerdale to 7.30pm how much the ratings on the other channels will drop through the floor," Danniella wrote to her fans.

Taking aim directly at the BBC, she concluded: "Could be the End of Enders."

It comes after Danniella hit out at the BBC for not telling her they had recast her Albert Square character with a new actress.

The Sun on Sunday revealed that Kim Medcalf, 48, will play Sam Mitchell — the fiery daughter of Queen Vic legend Peggy Mitchell, with filming beginning this month.

She said: “I’ve been known as Sam Mitchell for 32 years. But nobody at EastEnders contacted me to let me know they had recast Kim in the role.

"There wasn’t even an email to my agent. I was shocked because they do have a responsibility to tell me and someone should have.”

Danniella has struggled with drug addiction since she was 14 and abused cocaine so badly it destroyed part of her nose.

She said: “The bosses have seen me go through addiction and they have no idea where I am today.

“Thankfully I’m OK. But if I hadn’t been it could have had very serious consequences for me."
