Corrie fans’ ‘lives complete’ as Ackley Bridge hunk makes cobbles debut

Coronation Street fans were left swooning on Monday night as an Ackley Bridge hunk made his debut on the cobbles.

Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell) looked like she was in trouble while trying to wrangle a barrel of beer along to the cellar.

But thankfully, a brand-new hunk stepped in to help – literally – as his foot shot out to keep it under control.

And fans were left with their "lives complete" as they recognised him as a familiar face.

Emma's knight in shining armour was actually Ackley Bridge actor Sam Retford, who plays Cory Wilson in the hit Channel 4 show.

He's playing Curtis in Coronation Street – and he clearly has some beef with Emma's dad Steve McDonald.

And it looks like romance is set to heat up between the pair, as Emma said his hard work deserved a "free drink in there tonight", as she gestured to the Rovers Return.

The duo exchanged numbers so they could set up a date later that evening.

And fans were just as invested as Emma, flocking to Twitter in droves to comment: "Sam Retford in Corrie tonight – highlight of my week!"

"Cory from Ackley Bridge is now in Corrie, please tell me he's staying! Life really is complete!" someone else said.

A third fan gushed: "The gorgeous Sam Retford in Corrie! Yes, please!"

"Already liking Curtis. Hope he is a nice guy. Emma deserves happiness," another social media user echoed.

Later, there were ructions between Steve and Curtis as it was revealed that he had knocked Steve off his bike previously while preparing for his charity race in memory of his late son Oliver.

As Emma revealed to her dad that she had a date with the hunk, he warned her not to "go accepting dates off strangers in the street".

"First he knocks me off my bike and then he goes hitting on my daughter!" Steve raged, dubbing it a "co-ordinated campaign".

Steve even accused Curtis of stealing his phone – though he insisted it had gotten stuck to his bike while they had knocked into each other during a "genuine racing accident".

"Your dad's demented – no offence!" Curtis insisted to Emma, who he'd dubbed an "attractive woman with barrel problems."

Elsewhere in soapland on Monday night, little Sam was in danger as he was kidnapped and held in the back of a van by one of Harvey's thugs.

He's been at the centre of Sharon Bentley's plan to lure Nick, Leanne and Simon back to the Street in the hopes of securing a lighter prison sentence for her nephew – or getting him out of jail entirely.

Another added: "Please let Sam be okay!"
