Coronation Street star Sam Aston has opened up about his co-star’s new relationship with girlfriend Tisha Merry.

The actor is happy that 36-year-old Alan who plays Tyrone Dobbs on the soap, has found romance with former Corrie star Tisha, 25.

In a snap taken from Sam’s wedding to Briony Gardner, Alan and Tisha are seen holding each other as they let their hair down at the wedding reception.

The Chesney Brown actor told OK!: ‘Alan is fantastic and he’s one of my oldest friends on the show and it’s great to see him so happy.’

Meanwhile his new wife Briony added: ‘He deserves happiness. I’m so pleased he brought Tisha to our wedding – she’s lovely.’

Alan shared a picture from Sam’s big day on his Instagram page, which showed he and Tisha, who used to play Steph Britton on the ITV soap, with their arms around each other in the venue’s grounds.

He added the caption: ‘Congratulations Mr & Mrs Aston. What a wonderful day, we’re so proud to be part of it .’

Tisha then shared the same snap and commented: ‘You’re not a bad +1 I suppose.’

The actor later posted a selfie with Tisha as they enjoyed a night out at the cinema.

He was previously married to actress Lucy-Jo Hudson and the pair share daughter Sienna-Rae.

Alan continues to play Tyrone in the soap, while Tisha left after a brief stint last year, having previously appeared from 2013 to 2017.

Other Corrie stars including Brooke Vincent (Sophie Webster), Mikey North (Gary Windass) and Katie McGlynn (Sinead Tinker) were also at Sam’s big day.

Briony revealed to OK! that she ‘didn’t stop crying’ on their wedding because she was so happy.

‘The whole day was perfect,’ she added. ‘I didn’t think Sam would be as emotional as he was.’

Sam added: ‘When I turned around and saw Briony, I thought she looked unbelievably beautiful. The ceremony was a surreal experience – it was joy on the highest level.’
