Coronation Street reveals death fears for Roy Cropper in wedding day horror

Coronation Street fans will see Roy Cropper’s life hang in the balance in dramatic scenes next week.

Roy (David Neilson) suffers a shock collapse in the urban garden after being stung by a bee on the day of Jude and Angie Appleton’s surprise vow renewal.

Next week’s episodes see the local residents gather for Jude and Angie’s big day, which has been arranged by Mary Taylor with Jude’s blessing.

Jude goes along with the idea even after Angie (Victoria Ekanoye) has told him that she wants them to split up – desperately hoping that the romantic ceremony will change her mind.

When Angie is predictably outraged to have the vow renewal sprung on her, Jude lies that Mary didn’t tell him either and they’ll just have to play along.

Soon afterwards, Jude gets drawn into the drama unfolding outside, as Roy struggles to breathe following his nasty bee sting.

Local doctor Ali Neeson (James Burrows) is passing by and produces an epi-pen to revive Roy with, before rushing off to his office at the medical centre for more.

When Roy begins to regain consciousness, he’s greeted by the sight of Jude, who’s called an ambulance.

As Roy thanks Jude for being a hero, the hapless character takes all the credit and fails to mention Ali’s involvement. Here we go again!

Later on, as praise is heaped on Jude in The Rovers, Angie tells him she’s very proud of him. But when Ali arrives, will he reveal the whole story or go along with Jude’s latest delusions? Could this misunderstanding be enough to keep Jude and Angie together for now?

Paddy Wallace, who plays Jude, revealed: “When Roy gets stung by a bee and collapses on to Jude, he doesn’t know what to do and it’s lucky that Ali comes and brings an epi-pen.

“By the time Roy comes around, Ali has gone off to find another epi-pen, so Roy thinks it’s Jude that has saved his life. In typical Jude fashion, he doesn’t disagree with Roy.

“He doesn’t necessarily tell a lie in that moment, he just doesn’t tell the truth and Jude is very quick to realise that this could work for him.

“There’s definite manipulation with Jude. It’s not always sinister, but he certainly would use a situation to his advantage, especially if he thinks that Angie will see him in a good light. His end goal is Angie and George.”

Later in the week, Jude announces some grand plans to become a paramedic – leaving everyone further impressed. But is he getting carried away with himself?

Paddy added: “Jude does believe that he can become a paramedic and he sees that as a new career, because he has no career. He is viewing this as a positive that he can take, which could potentially be a good thing for him and his family.

“He doesn’t see the light. Because he is living in the moment, he doesn’t see it as this huge lie or the consequences. He thinks people will see him in a good light, so he is very child-like in the way that he operates.

“He is aware of the fact that Ali could blow his lie and it’s all about managing that. He is confident that he can manipulate the situation, but he is wary of Ali.

“With Jude, you just don’t know what he could do. If he is backed into a corner and he feels that Ali is in the way, then he might have to push out.”

Coronation Street airs the vow renewal episodes on Monday, September 3 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
