As the latest series of Celebs Go Dating got underway this week, the latest batch of single stars were hoping to find love with the help from a team of dating experts.
With everyone taking part from broadcasting icon Vanessa Feltz through to Love Island loathrio Adam Collard, there was no shortage of drama or excitement as the stars headed out into the world in search of romance.
Enjoying a number of specially selected dates as chosen by the expert panel, for the first time ever this series, the show also introduced a brand new segment to the usual format, which allowed the couples to experience feedback face to face after their (in some cases disastrous) meetings.
The aim of the segment was to encourage honesty and transparency to any potential relationship, with Anna Williamson reiterating that this was the foundation of any lasting and healthy relationship.
Taking to the first ever Celebs Go Dating brunch, as a group the couples were presented with their feedback with some promising comments made that showed clear signs of a spark.
However, the same couldn’t be said for all of the participants, with Vanessa in particular being confronted by a scathing slew of comments after she was accused of being “disinterested” and “unready to date” by her potential partner Richard.
As fans will know, on Wednesday, Vanessa was invited on a date with smoked salmon maker Richard, but the pair lacked chemistry and the conversation was soon floundering.
Yet despite Richard’s attempts to soldier on, Vanessa continued to shut down his attempts to engage her and even began playing on her phone mid-conversation before leaving the meal with food still left untouched on the table.
Explaining how he felt the behaviour had been rude and “difficult”, Richard explained his experience to the panel and the fellow celebs in attendance, however Vanessa did not agree and was both insulted and enraged by the criticism as she coolly responded: “Recollections may very,” as she quoted the late Queen Elizabeth.
Things also took a further turn later on for Lottie Moss, when it was revealed shortly after she had pledged to go on a date with potential lover Fintan Walsh, that she had actually slept with fellow participant Adam Collard just days before the date.
Although he initially appeared to be accepting of the situation, it soon became clear that things were frosty between the pair, after Lottie had failed to be honest about the situation with him.
Yet despite the drama unfolding on screen, fans at home couldn’t get enough of the new “brutal” segment, with many delighted to see the reality of dating finally covered.
“This is BRUTAL and I’m very much here for it” wrote one fan.
“Best @CelebsGoDating ever. Seeing Richard crucify Vanessa Feltz. Richard 100% right in everything he said,” commented another.
While a third soon added: “Feedback face to face, this is new.”
Before a fourth commented: “So glad they included this! Loving the feedback! It’s savage!”
