Caroline Flack to be honoured in special episode of Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing is to pay tribute to former contestant Caroline Flack, who tragically died earlier this year.

Caroline took part in the 2014 series, going on to win alongside dance partner Pasha Kovalev – the pair went on to smash show records, with their performance to Robbie Williams' hit single, Angels, being considered one of the show's best dances.

The former Love Island host was found dead, aged 40, at her London home on February 15 this year.

Show bosses are believed to be planning an emotional tribute to her in BBC One's Strictly: The Best of the Final which will air later in the year.

Flack's dance partner Pasha and close pal Janette Manara will be amongst those who honour her.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: "Caroline was loved by all on Strictly and was a hugely popular winner among the executives and the crew."

The insider added: "She was a bundle of energy and they thought if they were going to look at some of the best finals ever it would be fitting to feature her in a big way.

"She's sorely missed by many, but particularly by her Strictly family."

The tribute comes just weeks after an east London coroner ruled that Caroline took her own life as she awaited a decision from the Crown Prosecution Service to put her on trial.

Caroline was accused of assaulting her boyfriend, Lewis Burton, a claim which the pair strongly denied.

The special Strictly episode will be fronted by hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

Judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Bruno Tonioli will also take their regular seats on the judging panel.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One in October.
