Turkey holiday warning as simple passport mistake could get you banned from visiting | The Sun

BRITS heading to Turkey this year should double-check their passport, due to certain rule not many holidaymakers know about.

To visit Turkey, tourists need to have at least 150 days left on their passport from the date of arrival.

For example, if you were visiting Turkey on August 1, 2023, your passport would need to be valid until at least December 29, 2023.

However, another unknown rule could also catch you out.

Brits need to have a full blank page for entry and exit stamps.

Even if your passport isn't full, you need to have an entire page without any other stamps or visas on it when you visit.

This is to allow room for both the entry and exit stamps.

Failure to do so could stop you from boarding your flight, or even get turned away at the border.

The UK Foreign Office currently states: "If you are visiting Turkey, your passport should be valid for at least 150 days from the date you arrive and there should be a full blank page for the entry and exit stamps."

If you need a new passport for your holiday, you may want to look at applying now.

Holidaymakers are being warned of a 'spring surge' which could lead to huge application delays.

Last year, due to a boom in applications after Covid, the government advised leaving 10 weeks to get it back, with many waiting longer than this.

If you also travel a lot, it is advised to get a larger passport with 50 pages instead of 34, which costs another £10.

And make sure to apply online rather than in person, as it will also cost you extra.
