The incredible beach in the UK with stretches of pink sand | The Sun

PINK sand beaches are mainly associated with exotic destinations like Bermuda and Indonesia.

But a seaside town in Devon has its very own beach, which in the right light, has stretches of pink sand.

Paignton Beach is part of the English Riviera and has stretches of pink sand.

In recent years, day-trippers have taken to TripAdvisor to rave about the pink sand at Paignton.

One person wrote: "My daughter loved the pink sand! The beachfront is good too, it's tidy and clean and was not crowded."

Meanwhile, other tourists to the beach have described the sand as "red" rather than pink.

In another review, someone else added:"Although the sand is red/terracotta colour, the beach is safe for children."

The pinky-red shade is caused by iron minerals in the sand oxidising with the air.

Other beaches in the area like Broadsands Beach and Goodrington Sands are also known for their unusual pinky-red shade of sand.

While most holidaymakers will spend a day relaxing on the sand, there are also various other attractions including Paignton Pier.
