More than 1 in 10 people have found semen in their hotel beds on holiday

However a new survey has shown that 12 per cent of people have found semen in their hotel bed, and six per cent found it in Airbnb beds.

The Sleep Judge surveyed 1,000 people who had stayed in hotels and Airbnbs who revealed the other nasties that they had found on the duvet or the sheets.

It’s not just rogue bodily fluids that are horrifying guests and being left behind by those who slept in the bed before them.

36 per cent of people have found creepy crawlies in their beds in hotels and 24 per cent have found them in Airbnbs.

While not quite as grim, most people surveyed had found hair that wasn’t theirs in their beds on holiday, with 88 per cent having found stray hairs in a hotel bed, and 87 per cent finding it in an Airbnb bed.

Further down the list, but still worrying, is that people have found poo in their beds – by eight per cent of people who stayed in an Airbnb, and seven per cent of hotel guests.

This is followed by vomit, which six per cent of hotel guests found in their beds, and four per cent of those staying in an Airbnb.

Ex-hotel worker Jacob Tomsky previously told Sun Online Travel that he made some seriously gross discoveries when he was working in hotels.

He worked in hospitality for ten years in every position from housekeeping to front desk, and knows a thing or two about what goes on behind the scenes there.

Jacob said: “Some people want to expose themselves to strangers. Couples also want to get caught having sex.

“They will call down to reception and ask for something in order for you to walk in."

He added: “Every time you open the door as a housekeeping manager you never know what you’re going to find. You can really get the fear about walking into a room.”

Jacob also said that people behave like “children” when they are staying at a hotel.

He said: “You can imagine the sort of filth that people leave behind.

“A lot of blood, a lot of fecal matter, a lot of residue from sexual escapades. There’s also the remains of drug binges."
