Martin Lewis issues holiday warning for Brits booking trips abroad

MONEY SAVING Expert Martin Lewis has issued a holiday warning to Brits who have booked a trip abroad.

The expert gave his advice during ITV's Money Show Live regarding how to avoid losing money when cancelling holidays.

He urged families to book travel insurance as soon as they book the holiday – not just before you go away.

When asked what rights someone has who has to cancel their holiday due to unforeseen circumstances, he said: "The answer is you don't have any.

"The flight is still going ahead and there's nothing wrong with your ticket.

"I ask if they've got travel insurance and they say 'I was gonna get it before I went'."

Buying travel insurance way before a holiday is important, he added, as "so many of the things you can claim for can happen before you go on holiday".

He also said some travel insurance is as little as £9 for a week's holiday in Europe, so there was no excuse not to get any.
