HOLIDAY prices are expected to go up next year with demand following news of the Oxford vaccine announcement.
Approved by regulators yesterday, the Oxford Covid vaccine will be rolled out to millions of Brits from Monday.
Emma Coulthurst from holiday price comparison site TravelSupermarket, said that holiday demand surged by 54 per cent following the news of the Pfizer vaccine last month.
The new vaccine announcement is expected to have a similar effect on holiday demand – as well as have a knock-on effect to an increase in prices too.
She explained: "People are desperate to escape as soon as the virus and the world allows them to do so.
"But searches translating to bookings is likely to continue to be highest for June and July next year when people are hoping that the world will be different."
Popular destinations expect to be the Greek islands such as Corfu and Crete, as well as Turkey and Majorca in Spain.
She continued: "However, for those who take the plunge, there will be an increase of people pivoting to package holidays rather than booking flight and accommodation separately due to the added consumer protections which a package offers if restrictions prevent the holiday taking place. People can change the date of the holiday or get a full refund in this situation.
"Due to limited capacity this winter, I expect that prices will rise as the vaccine roll out continues.
"So, if you shop around, there are some good prices to be grabbed currently. For those who do book a package for the next few months, there are some good prices out there e.g."
TravelSupermarket deals include seven nights in Dubai for less than £500pp, or a trip to the Maldives for £1,643pp.

Many countries are still closed to Brits, so caution is advised when booking a trip in the upcoming weeks.
Families are urged to check the local travel advice before booking, as well as having relevant travel insurance and cancellation policies.
Despite this, travel experts think holidays abroad will be back "with certainty" by May.
