Grant Shapps warns Brits will need to be triple jabbed to go on holiday in 2022

THE Transport Secretary has warned Brits will need to have had two Covid vaccines plus the booster jab to go on holiday next year.

Grant Shapps said that other countries are going to make it an entry requirement for visitors to have had three vaccinations against Covid.

Popular holiday destinations, such as France, Italy, the US and Germany, are expected to introduce the rule from February.

Mr Shapps said it will be "inevitable" that Brits will need to be triple jabbed.

Speaking on Sky News, he said: "I speak to my opposite numbers in other countries – transport secretaries from around the world – particularly from the G7 this year, which we're hosting.

"And they’re saying we’re going to switch to requiring people to have that third jab before they are able to come into their country.

"So I think eventually it becomes inevitable because other countries require it for us.

“It don’t know what that time will be, not this year."

This follows an announcement from health secretary Sajid Javid that the definition of 'fully vaccinated' will be updated to include the third jab.

He said this will be done "once all adults have had a reasonable chance" to get the booster jab.

All adults will be offered the chance to book their booster appointment by the end of the year.

From today, Brits need to show a negative lateral flow test to get into nightclubs and large events, or prove that they have had two vaccines.

Today also marked the end of the red list, as all 11 nations were taken off it at 4am.

The red list scrap comes just a fortnight after 11 African countries were slapped on the list after the emergence of Omicron.
