Disney World announces smoking ban and new rules about kids' pushchairs

WALT Disney World guests will not be able to smoke inside the parks after May 1, under new rules it's introduced.

Parents with young kids will need to make sure that their pushchairs fit the dimensions given by Disney as well, as larger versions will be banned from the parks.

The new rules will start from May 1, with the theme park cracking down on anyone breaking the rules.

Parents with young kids will need to make sure that pushchairs are no bigger than 79cm x 132 cm – any bigger and they won't be allowed into the park.

Stroller wagons that some parents use for older toddlers will also be banned.

Disney said that guests will be able to rent strollers for $15 a day (£11.48) to avoid falling foul of the new rules.

Guests who smoke will now need to go outside of the parks in order to do so as all the designated smoking areas have been moved to the entrances of the parks.

The smoking ban will affect Walt Disney World or Disneyland theme parks, water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and Downtown Disney District in California.

Guests who are staying at or dining in one of the Disney Resort hotels will still have a designated area to light up.

And for guests who brought their own ice to cool their drinks, lose ice and dry ice are no longer allowed either.

The new rules have received mixed reaction from fans, with some on social media calling it "harsh".

Disney Parks banning Smoking inside the Parks is a bit… extra??? Like, just because people whine it's still OUTSIDE… stay away from smoking areas maybe? I do not stand besides a vegan and scream "you're ruining my dining experience and I can't enjoy meat anymore cuz of you!"

I don't smoke but I feel the smoking ban being introduce to Disney Parks in the states is a little harsh ?

Honestly I am so pumped that Disney banned the stroller wagons! The smoking thing is cool, but they were already so hidden. The excessive strollers thoughhhhhh

One Twitter user said: "I don't smoke but I feel the smoking ban being introduce to Disney Parks in the states is a little harsh."

Another remarked: "Disney Parks banning Smoking inside the Parks is a bit… extra??? Like, just because people whine it's still OUTSIDE…"

However many praised the ban of stroller wagons, accusing parents of using them as "battering rams".

A tweet explained: "Honestly I am so pumped that Disney banned the stroller wagons."

Disney World also won't let you in if you're in fancy dress and over the age of 14, Sun Online Travel previously reported.

This is to stop children getting confused between guests and the Disney characters.

Planes are also banned from flying over Disney World unless over 3,000 feet in the air.
