Sony announced pricing for its flagship A90J televisions earlier this month, but if £6,999 sounds like too much for your credit card to handle, then don’t worry, the firm has announced a new batch of tellies that are much more affordable. These more affordable TVs will go on sale this month.

Amongst the latest range is Sony’s X80 series, which can be popped in your living room for just £699. That’s pretty good value considering the technology that’s tucked inside. For your money, you’ll find a 4K LED display that’s powered by Sony’s HDR Processor X1. This brain is able to reproduce more depth, textures and natural colours making the image feel more immersive and lifelike.

There’s also 4K X-Reality PRO picture processing technology which upscales each pixel for improved clarity and Sony says it now uses advanced noise reduction techniques and a special pattern database ensure every scene is packed full of detail.

Alongside crystal clear pictures, the audio should also sound pretty impressive with X-Balanced speakers booming-out sound and Ambient Optimisation technology automatically adjusting both the picture and audio to suit the room you’ve placed the TV in. Other features include a minimalist design with smaller bezels and the ability to easily connect devices. There’s even Apple’s AirPlay 2 included, which allows iPhone and Mac users to beam what’s on their gadgets straight to the telly.

These TVs are also powered by the latest Google TV software which brings a swathe of apps and services to the big screen at the touch of a button.

That all sounds pretty good for the price but if you fancy something a little more premium then the new X80J OLED models are also going on sale this month with these TVs featuring pin-sharp OLED displays along with the new Cognitive Processor XR. This clever chip is able to understand how humans see and hear, with content tweaked in real-time to bring the ultimate picture and audio quality.

There’s also Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology including a front-facing subwoofer which delivers more accurate sound positioning and cinematic surround sound. XR 4K Upscaling technology upscales standard signals to make them appear close to true 4K quality.

The stand has also been cleverly designed with three-position options, including the ability to make things narrower to fit smaller furniture.

Finally, the new BRAVIA XR A80J 4K HDR OLED TV features the exclusive BRAVIA CORE service. This comes pre-loaded on all new BRAVIA XR models, and allows users to enjoy a selection of the latest Sony premium and classic titles and the largest IMAX Enhanced collection.
