Trump's cyber-security adviser wiped his iPhone after 10 failed logins

Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, wiped his own iPhone while he was the president’s cybersecurity adviser.

The incident occurred in 2017, according to NBC News, and happened after 10 failed attempts to enter the device’s PIN code.

Apple’s iPhones are designed to lock themselves completely after that many incorrect attempts. Apparently, Giuliani then went to a commercial Apple store to try and get them to unlock the phone.

‘There’s no way he should be going to a commercial location to ask for that assistance,” former FBI agent for cybercrime E.J. Hilbert told NBC.

According to Hilbert, there was too much sensitive information on Giuliani’s phone to risk an Apple Store employee seeing it.

Giuliani responded to NBC’s story with a tweet likening his incident to the infamous San Bernardino case where the FBI went to war with Apple over unlocking an iPhone.
