Motorola RAZR returns in leaked shots of updated classic

The Motorola Razr flip-phone was the must-have gadget in the days before iPhones were around.

Now it looks like the classic is set for a comeback after a set of images surfaced allegedly showing an updated version.

Spread by serial gadget leaker Evan Blass, the renders show the new Razr with the same clamshell design but the 6.2-inch screen stretches all the way across the device when unfolded.

If authentic, the new Razr follows the likes of the Huawei Mate X and the Smasung Galaxy Fold in trying to bring foldable screens into the mainstream.

Lenovo, the Chinese company that owns Motorola, has been talking up a storm about a revival.

‘With the new technology, particularly foldable screens, I think you will see more and more innovation on our smartphone design,’ Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing told TechRadar.

‘So hopefully what you just described [the Motorola Razr brand] will be developed or realized very soon.’

Other rumours suggest the retail price for this new Razr could be around £1,300 – which would make it a very expensive slice of nostalgia.
