Sky might be famed for bringing entertainment and broadband into UK homes but its latest launch is something a little different. The firm has just announced the unveiling of its new ‘Sky Connect’ service which is aimed at helping small business stay connected.
It’s a big change in direction from Sky, although with the company already supplying six million homes with broadband it shouldn’t come as a surprise that they now want to expand on that user base.
Sky says that its new Connect product has been built based on feedback from hundreds of small businesses across the UK with it aiming to address concerns with existing business providers.
Sky Connect will bundle superfast broadband with built-in malware and phishing protection to help firms stay protected.
There’s also something called “VoiceEdge” which is a modern digital voice service with 24 call management features plus there’s “Connection Pro” which provides business-grade 4G back-up so the internet should never go offline.

Speaking about the launch Stephen van Rooyen, EVP & CEO, UK & Europe, Sky, said: “Covid-19 has had a huge impact on small British businesses, with many moving online to survive. We’re launching Sky Connect now, and plan to create up to a thousand new jobs across the UK, because we know British businesses will come out fighting and we want to be there to help.
“Small businesses are the growth engine of our economy and we believe they deserve better – better products and technology; clearer contracts, and exceptional customer service.”
Prices for the basic broadband which doesn’t include 4G backup start from £39 per month.
The most premium option with superfast speeds and an always-on connection cost £95 per month.
The launch of Sky Connect has already led to the creation of 200 new jobs, including over 100 in its Leeds contact & operations centre, and will lead to the creation of up to 1000 more in sales, service and in head-office over the next few years.
