Mate 20 Pro and the P20 Pro were Huawei’s flagship smartphones for 2018 – both devices comes with incredible capable camera systems, fast processors and hefty batteries.
The duo both harness Google’s Android operating system with Huawei’s own EMUI skin running on top.
Huawei recently released the newest version of EMUI to the pair, 9.1.
EMUI 9.1 contains a number of notable improvements over its predecessor, EMUI 9.0 – the most notable of which are the increased read speeds and available space it grants users.
The new skin also comes with a revamped settings menu and a tool dubbed GPU Turbo 3.0 that aims to improve screen touch response delays and optimise device performance when playing games.
While EMUI 9.1 is certainly a notable improvement for both devices, it seems something even bigger could be coming from Huawei this week.
The Chinese tech powerhouse is holding a developer conference on August 9 in the Industrial Chinese city of Dongguan and has declared it will reveal EMUI 10 during proceedings.
EMUI 10 is presumed to be Huawei’s revamped software skin that will run on top of Android Q.
Earlier this year, FunkyHuawei.club exhibited what it claimed was an early build of EMUI 10 that was later claimed to be legitimate by XDA Developers.
The latter later showcased screenshots of the new skin in action – aesthetically EMUI 10 was shown to look very similar to EMUI 9.1.
With that said, Huawei’s camera app was shown to be redesigned – the programme appeared to be simplified and harnessed only red and white colours.
At the time XDA Developers showcased new permissions within the software that will be one of the most useful new features offered by Android Q.
It is expected Huawei devices will be granted many of the features Google has already outlined to debut in its latest operating system.
However, it is possible Huawei could introduce some radical new additions of its own within the software – the OEM brought a dark mode to its Android version before Google for instance.
Huawei has already declared it expects both the Mate 20 Pro, P20 Pro and a number of its other handsets to receive Android Q.
In addition to a new EMUI version, it has also been rumoured the Chinese tech giant will unveil a new operating system that may be an alternative to Android.
