Kids can get personal message from Santa if they ask Alexa one specific question

As Christmas approaches, Amazon's Alexa is helping get kids into the festive spirit.

The voice-controlled device is leaving special messages for children from Santa Claus – and getting one for your little one couldn't be easier.

Those who own an Alexa simply have to ask the device one little question – how many days are there until Christmas.

Alexa will give you the answer, before asking if you'd like to hear an update from Santa and playing a sweet message which is bound to get everyone excited for the holiday season.

  • Amazon Echo Dot down to £6 in incredible Black Friday deal stacking trick

In the message, Father Christmas promises to keep your child up to date with the latest festive news and reveals how he's getting ready for the busiest time of year.

So far he's been heard telling listeners: "Ho ho ho, I'm so looking forward to Christmas.

"I will be starting my daily Christmas update very soon, so make sure you come back if you love Christmas. Come back tomorrow for another Christmas update."

Other Alexa users have reported hearing Santa say he was busy baking mince pies with Mrs Claus at their home in the North Pole.

  • Simple way to connect Alexa to Spotify rather than Amazon Music

The sweet Alexa feature was shared by one mum on the Facebook group, Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK.

She said: "Something fun for the kids to get excited about."

Thousands liked and responded to her post, thanking her for letting them know.

There's also a number of other Christmas features you can enable on your Alexa device.

For instance, the Santa feature by HUGO.FM will allow your little ones to ask Santa to do a number of different things – including recommending a Christmas movie to watch, telling his favourite Christmas cracker jokes and reading the headlines from the North Pole.

Once you've enabled the skill, you simply say, "Alexa, open Santa Claus", then give the device a command of your choice.

Alexa can also recite The Night Before Christmas poem, play Christmas music, send digital Christmas cards, track Santa, explore Christmas trivia and much more.
