iPhone users can now try out some amazing new lock screen customisation features, thanks to the launch of the iOS 16 beta.
Apple suddenly released the public beta for its long-awaited new software last night, giving you the option to try out some of the biggest new features for iOS 16, including editing iMessages and never having to fill in a Captcha form again.
The star of the show, however, is undoubtedly iOS 16's new lock screen tools, which let you completely change the way you use your iPhone.

With iOS 16, iPhone users can now fully customise the look and feel of their lock screens with new fonts, widgets, animations and more.
It even lets you switch between multiple lock screens depending on your needs throughout the day, whether you need a weather forecast in the morning, widgets for your workout, or a to-do list during your shift at work.
iPhone users also now have access to Apple's Lock Screen gallery, which lets you choose from an array of special lock screens each with its own unique backdrop, look, and feel.
The changes were first announced in June at the Apple spring event, where the tech giant revealed iOS 16 would come out in September. However, the iOS 16 beta programme now lets you try things out ahead of the software's full release.

How to get the iOS 16 beta
It's really straightforward to get the iOS 16 beta installed on your iPhone.
All you have to do is visit Apple's Beta Software Program site and sign in with your Apple ID.
Once you've signed up and registered your device, it will be available as an update through your iPhone settings. You'll just have to download the new beta profile and from there, you can get started.
However, Apple warns that because the beta software is still in an experimental stage, you shouldn't put it on a 'critical' device. This is because the software could still have bugs in it that might lead to the loss of your files or contacts.
That's why it's best to back up anything important before you sign up to the iOS 16 beta.
