Video doorbells have boomed in recent years with these clever connected gadgets able to watch over your home and send instant alerts and video footage straight to your smartphone. One of the leaders in this space is Ring whose easy to fit and simple to use devices have made them a popular choice for consumers.

Now the Amazon-owned firm is back with a new doorbell and this could be their most advanced to date.

The Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 comes packed with technology and new sensors with the company boasting that this latest device can actually bring a bird’s eye view of your property straight to your smartphone.

A technology called 3D Motion Detection provides an aerial map view of your property, showing exactly where motion has been spotted to give you historical context to the nature of the event.

This basically means you can see if it’s simply someone passing by your home or something a little more sinister.

Along with that clever trick up its sleeve, the Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 is now much better at spotting objects in front of the home with radar able to judge an exact distance.

This gives users more options to customise when they get alerts as the camera can spot when an object crosses an exact point on your driveway.

Once that threshold is crossed, an alert is sent straight to your smartphone via a motion alert.

“3D Motion Detection and Bird’s Eye View are the natural next steps in home security and will set a new standard in motion detection,” said Jamie Siminoff, Ring’s founder and Chief Inventor. “With the introduction of these radar-based features, we’re reinventing what our devices can do to give our customers a more precise picture of what is happening at home. We’re excited to add this technology to our most popular product—the doorbell, and to offer customers even more choices for their home security systems.”

Other advanced features include Head to Toe video so you can every inch of what’s happening at the door plus there’s pin-sharp 1536p HD video recording.

To help boost the audio, there’s an array of microphones that limits distortion for clearer sound.

Ring says its Video Doorbell Pro 2 is built from the ground up with privacy and security in mind. That should mean all of your video recordings and data stay safe. Users get more control over their data via the Ring app which makes it easy to tailor specific privacy and security settings.

Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 will be available for purchase on 31st March 2021 for £219. You can pre-order on Amazon today or sign up to Ring.com to be notified when it is available.
