Winnipeg’s Patrik Laine scores five goals on five shots against the Blues

Winnipeg Jets forward Patrik Laine entered Saturday's game as one of the NHL's hottest players, with six goals over his last three games.

He was just getting warmed up.

Laine, 20, set a franchise record by scoring five goals in an 8-4 victory at the St. Louis Blues. And he did it on five shots. He became the first four-goal scorer this season and the first player to get five goals in a game since the Detroit Red Wings' Johan Franzen in February 2011.

The Finnish-born Laine had 36 goals as a rookie and 44 in 2017-18 in his second season. He has moved into the league lead with 19 goals in 22 games.
