SALOMON RONDON urged Newcastle to keep him at the club next season.
The Toon striker is on a season-long loan from West Brom, who he is contracted to until 2020.
Newcastle chiefs refused to pay £16.5million to sign Rondon on a permanent basis last summer, largely because of his age.
But the Venezuelan, who turns 30 in September, hopes a deal can be agreed this off-season.
Rondon said: “The club knows what I want and what my family want.
"If there is an opportunity for me to be here, I’ll stay here 100 per cent.
“I play with the No 9 on my back. If I could stay for many years I’d love to.
“If not I will say thank you to everybody and see what happens next.”
Owner Mike Ashley has drawn a line under the club’s latest takeover saga but it remains up for sale for around £300m.
The Sports Direct tycoon, who put the Magpies back on the market in October 2017, entered into talks with a series of potential buyers but will now call time on those discussions.
