TROTTER went very close in a claimer over course and distance last time and this handicap doesn’t look any stronger than that. He looks on a fair mark, which is 8lb lower than his last run in this class, and should run well again.
Vincenzo Coccotti ran well in better races than this last season and likes this trip. He should be in the shake-up, while Brockey Rise won with plenty in hand at Wolverhampton last time and would have every chance if translating that to turf.
Trainer Archie Watson is having a fine time with his juvenile fillies and has another likely debut winner in LAMBETH WALK. She has plenty of pace in her pedigree and will certainly know her job.
Brazen Safa is another with lots of winning sprinters in the family and a market move would be telling. Tom Dascombe has a solid record in races like this so his Dr Simpson is worth a look.
PUDS took a fair step forward when winning on debut for new trainer Richard Hughes at Chelmsford last time out. She likes to go from the front, which can pay off around here, and she could still be a couple of pounds ahead of the handicapper.
Fair Cop came back from 18 months off to be beaten a decent three lengths at Newcastle last time. With the Andrew Balding horses in decent form, he can improve on that and has form in better races.
King Robert has been going well on the all-weather and won with lots in hand at Chelmsford last time. A repeat of that would give him every chance.
SAM COOKE is the most interesting runner in the race having signed off last season with a good win at York in October. That looks like strong form but the handicapper hasn’t gone mad with his opening mark which could prove lenient.
Little Rock is fit from a couple of spins on the all-weather with a good second at Lingfield last time out. He didn’t get the run of the race there and finished well so there should be more to come.
Gentle Look is nicely bred and wasn’t asked too many questions last term. He looks on a fair mark.
TELECASTER is bred to be top class and showed lots of promise on debut when second to a real prospect at Doncaster last month. There was a long way back to the third and the performance looks solid. He likes this trip and has a lot more to offer.
Deal A Dollar comes from top connections and had a quiet debut when second at Kempton in December. He should take a big step forward from that here.
Ginistrelli showed promise last season on two runs, finishing with a game win at Newmarket over a mile. The step up in distance should bring a lot more improvement.
RUN AFTER GENESIS did well to win on comeback at Kempton last time despite the 7f trip seeming on the short side. He should improve fitness-wise for that and this longer distance should be ideal from a fair 4lb higher in the weights.
Shifting Gold starts handicapping from what should be a lenient mark after showing some promise in maidens last term, finishing with a fourth at Kempton in fair company.
Sukalia should do better this season upped in distance after a fair fourth in an Epsom nursery last time out in August.
KIRKLAND FOREVER was in cracking form late last season at Brighton with two wins and two placed from four runs. She saves her best for this distance and a 6lb rise for her most recent win seems fair enough. Her claiming rider was on board for one of the wins so clearly gets on well with the five-year-old.
Amaretto has a good draw and ran on well over 1m2f to win at Lingfield last time. A repeat of that should be good enough to figure. Famous Dynasty got no luck in running when third at Lingfield last time and has a chance from this mark.
