JACK GREALISH has been told by Pep Guardiola to stop being ‘stupid’ for worrying about his poor scoring record.
The £100million star revealed he spoke to the Manchester City boss over what he views as a poor strike rate after only scoring four times at club level this season since his British record move from Aston Villa.
Grealish made the confession after bagging a goal in the midweek 2–0 FA Cup defeat of Peterborough United.
But Guardiola said: “If he is frustrated about his number of goals, he is a stupid man.
“That is not necessary to be frustrated about scoring goals. He has to play, and play good and try to do his best, that’s all he has to do. If he scores a goal, good. If not, next game.“
Instead, Guardiola says the 26-year-old playmaker should not make it about him and remember that it is a team game.
For he says there are lies, damned lies and statistics and the truth of the matter for him is only about what his players achieve together and not as individuals.
Grealish will be hoping to strike again in his first Manchester Derby against United at the Etihad today.

But Guardiola growled: “Statistics, statistics. I’m happy, I’m good, if I score ten goals and after I am 20 points behind the leaders.
“The important thing is to play good, help the team to win and be part of something that we are a unit and all together.
“Of course, I want to score 20 goals like Grealish or 30 or 40, but if he doesn’t do it, it doesn’t matter. It’s play good or not play good.
“If you did everything and did your best, honestly go and take a shower after the game. If you did your best in every single action, it’s enough.”
