'Outstanding' Australian sevens stars commit for Tokyo Olympics

Australia's Tokyo Olympics women's sevens squad is coming together with three key signings ahead of the crucial qualification series later this year.

Sevens veterans Alicia Quirk, Sharni Williams and Shannon Parry have all re-signed until the end of 2020, joining Charlotte Caslick to anchor the John Manenti-coached squad as it prepares for the upcoming World Series.

It is a major boost for the reigning world champions ahead of the first leg in Colorado next month, with this World Series doubling as the Olympic qualification series as well.

"These three women are outstanding rugby players and leaders within our squad," Manenti said.

"They all have such passion and drive for the program and for the game, wanting to see it grow, and you can see this enthusiasm in the way they still throw themselves at everything.

"This is a massive year for the squad as we fight to secure Olympic qualification and to have these three as a part of our plans is the wind in our sails as we charge through our pre-season."
