Man Utd will face 'mutiny' if Solskjaer is not handed full-time job, says Gary Neville

Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho in December as interim boss and has won 11 out of his 14 games while remaining unbeaten in domestic competition.

Despite the impressive form, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino remains Solskjaer's main rival to land the job.

Speaking to Sky Sports after United's 0-0 home draw against league leaders Liverpool, Solskjaer’s former team-mate Neville suggested the fans could turn on the board if they appoint anyone but the Norwegian.

Neville said: “Three months ago if it was 0-0 at home they would have been singing ‘attack, attack, attack’.

“They were singing 'Ole Gunnar Solskjaer' all of the second-half. The mood has completely transformed.

“He has the crowd with him. I think at this moment in time if you're the board you are not in a position where you could give it to someone else, I think there would be a mutiny.

“The fans love him. They were getting behind the team in the second-half but mostly they were singing for him.”

Solskjaer lifted United from sixth to fourth, but their goalless draw at Old Trafford on Sunday meant Arsenal leaped above them in the Champions League spot.

United have suffered just one defeat under their new caretaker boss – against PSG in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.

With two away goals conceded, the Reds face a massive uphill task in the second leg in Paris next week.
