Giancarlo Stanton not in Yankees’ lineup for ALCS Game 2

Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton was left out of the lineup for Game 2 of the ALCS Sunday night in Houston.

Stanton was replaced in left field by Cameron Maybin.

Manager Aaron Boone hasn’t yet spoken with reporters during pregame as he usually does, so it’s unclear why Stanton was held out of the lineup.

Stanton was limited to just 18 games this season due to a series of injuries, including most recently trouble with his right knee after spraining his PCL.

But Stanton went 2-for-4 with one home run and an RBI during the Yankees’ series-opening 7-0 win over the Astros.

Here is the rest of the Yankees lineup:

DJ Lemahieu (1B)
Aaron Judge (RF)
Gleyber Torres (2B)
Edwin Encarnacion (DH)
Brett Gardner (CF)
Gary Sanchez (C)
Gio Urshela (3B)
Cameron Maybin (LF)
Didi Gregorius (SS)

Starting pitcher: James Paxton
