English clubs to get just 17,000 tickets should they reach Champions League final… at 63,000-seater Wanda Metropolitano

Just 17,000 will be handed to either of the finalists for the game on June 1 at the 63,500 Wanda Metropolitano.

A ballot will be conducted to distribute the additional 4,000 passes, which will be available to the general public.

Many of the remaining 25,500 will be offered to the local organising committee, UEFA and national associations, commercial partners and broadcasters.

Some will be held back for the hospitality sections of the ground.

Tickets for the public sale will be available for between £60 and £513.

The Premier League has four representatives in the quarter-finals for the first time since 2009.

Liverpool completed the quartet after beating Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Their quarter-final and semi-final fate will be determined in Friday's draw in Nyon, when they are drawn alongside Barcelona, Juventus, Porto and Ajax.

But the achievement has been soured by the news that many of their closest followers are set to miss one of the biggest nights in their history due to Uefa's elitist policy.

It is not uncommon for European football's governing body to be frugal with their allocation for the showpiece event.

In 2018, Liverpool and Real Madrid fans were given just under 17,000 tickets for the final at NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kiev, which had its capacity reduced to 63,000.

For the final in Cardiff between Real and Juventus in 2017, just 19,000 tickets were held back for each side with 24,500 of the 66,000 at Cardiff's Principality Stadium filled by sponsors, partners and hospitality.

The application for tickets through the ballot is open until March 21.
