Daniel Correa was 'too drunk' and 'incapable of rape' before being brutally murdered by jealous husband

Sao Paulo star Correa was tragically found dead in a bush on October 27 in the city of Sao Jose dos Pinhais in Brazil’s southern state of Parana with his throat slit and his genitals cut off.

Businessman Edison Brittes Junior, 38, was arrested three days later and confessed to killing the 24-year-old footballer in a "moment of madness" after he caught him reportedly trying to rape his wife Cristiana Brittes.

Correa, who sent pictures to his mates of him in bed with the woman, headed back to the house to continue a party that started inside a nightclub.

Lawyers representing Cristiana and Edison claim that the wife admitted she had "suffered sexual abuse without consent by [Daniel], who rubbed his penis against her."

They added: "[At that time] she was drunk, slept and thought it was a dream. She saw him on her and started screaming."

But detective Amaedu Trevisan has refuted these claims and says the evidence doesn't back up witness statements.

It was also suggested that toxicology reports claim that Correa was "too drunk" to rape Cristiana.

Reported by the Mail, Trevisan added: "From the witnesses we heard and who were in the house no one heard the cry of Cristiana asking for help to prevent her from being attacked,

"And no one heard the noise of (Edison) breaking down the door. It is not a mansion, it is a small house and people were nearby.

"We believe Edison threatened those in the house to agree with his version of events and not to break the link,

"We believe the Brittas family begun by lying and inventing a story in an undisputed procedural fraud and coerced witnesses to support their claims."

Edinson confessed that he had smashed his bedroom door down after finding it locked and hearing his wife’s screams from inside.

He said: “That’s when I dragged him off my wife, threw him to the floor and stopped that monster raping my wife.

“I hit him a lot, a lot and took him out of the house. I don’t know if he was awake or unconscious or if he had just closed his eyes.

"I wasn’t thinking of anything. I had a knife in the car, a small knife, which was with the tools in the boot.

"I did not know I was going to do that, I was desperate, beside myself with rage. I looked in the boot and saw what was there.”
