Canberra Raiders set to play trial against Bulldogs in Bega

The Canberra Raiders appear set to play a pre-season match against the Canterbury Bulldogs in Bega next year after the council approved funding for the fixture.

It will be the first time the Raiders have taken a match to Bega since more than 6000 fans watched their pre-season clash against the Melbourne Storm in 2011.

The Raiders will play the Bulldogs on February 23.

The Bulldogs beat the Raiders when the teams met in a trial match earlier this year, winning 16-12 on the Sunshine Coast. The game at the Bega Recreation Ground is expected to be locked in for February 23.

The Raiders have the bulk of their squad locked in for the 2019 season, but the club is also believed to be keen to lure Melbourne playmaker Ryley Jacks to the capital next year.

The Raiders finished 10th on the ladder this year and missed the finals for a second consecutive year.
