Birmingham boss Garry Monk given one-match ban and fined £2,000 after Brentford red card

The Birmingham City boss was sent to the stands after exploding at the fourth official following Maikel Kieftenbeld's dismissal at Griffin Park.

Monk will now miss his side’s next game on Saturday at home to Rotherham.

And the former Swansea man has also been fined £2,000 by the Football Association.

He admitted using abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official.

And Monk will be hoping his side can build on their 1-1 draw with the Bees without his presence in the dug-out.

Birmingham have also appealed against Kieftenbeld’s sending off after he clashed with Neal Maupay in an off-the-ball incident.

The Blues lie 18th in the Championship table after a dismal start to the new season.

They have won just a single game out of 11, scoring just ten goals in the process.

Finding the back of the net appears to be the problem, with Monk’s men only losing twice so far this season while drawing an incredible eight of their matches so far.
